Embattled Detroit "Hip-hop" Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick will skip the 2008 Democratic National Convention seeking to keep the focus on Obama and not his legal, ethical and personal woes. It is true that Kilpatrick has made some poor personal choices during his mayoral tenure, but even some of his harshest critics admit that he has done a lot for the city of Detroit. He has not been convicted of a crime but is being treated like a criminal and has become the biggest target in the never-ending political witchhunt against Black elected officials. Note t0 all Black elected officials (especially you young ones). Do not think that you can be elected to office and get away with the same unethical behavior as your white colleagues. This is still America people.
