Burress Pleads Guilty...as if Shooting Himself in the Leg Wasn't Punishment Enough

The New York Daily News and thousands of media outlets nationwide are reporting that New York Giant's star reciever Plaxico Burress has copped to the gun charge that he caught in a Manhattan nightclub. Burress slipped through the club's side entrance with a pistol, which accidentally slipped down his baggy shorts and discharged shooting him in his leg. He is expected to do two years in jail and then resume his football career. Why not allow the guy the opportunity to teach youngsters about the danger of guns (and baggy shorts)in exchange for a lighter punishment. It's clear that he is not a real danger to anyone except himself. Let's use his celebrity to teach a much needed lesson about irresponsibility with weapons. Like I said in my editorial last year, Plaxico Burress and his pistol is just an extension of the state of the Black community and its guns. At the end of the day, we only shoot ourselves. The other part that I did not mention is after we shoot ourselves, we go to jail for it; just like Plaxico. I pray it all works out for the brother.
