TWITTER NETWORKING EVENT IN DOWNTOWN HOUSTON
TWITTER REGULARS COME TOGETHER FOR A GOOD CAUSE
The first of July was a "first" for many Houston Twitter users who came together for a networking event called "Tweet Up for the Troops." The event, organized by Michelle Price, Jesse Muhammad, Jennifer Haubein and Garrett Maddox and hosted by City Councilman Jarvis Johnson, was a live and direct tutorial on how to use the popular networking site Twitter. I was very impressed by the way protesters in Iran used Twitter as a communication vehicle when all outside mainstream media was shut out of Iran. Nevertheless, I was too busy munching on the "good stuff" catered and provided by the healthy eating establishment Beaucoup Wings n Wings, based in Third Ward Houston. Attendees included News Reporter Isiah Carey, Rolling Out Magazine, Mavis Jackson (that's my moms for yall who didn't know),Shareefah Muhammad, Lisa Felix, Valeka Hines, Alicia Jackson, Jeremy Banks, DJ Crazy Dredz, Personal Trainer Abdul Salaam and a "whole bunch of other folks" that I met for the first time. Maybe I'll learn how to use this Twitter thing before the next event.
